The weather was great, the skies were blue with big white cumulus clouds floating around. A great day to race. The race featured 30 full teams and several indviduals representing other colleges and 221 racers. The Blue Devils coming out of box 28 of 40 had their shoes tied and ready to go as the gun blasted the start. Ty Reynolds went out with a sub 5 minute first mile and continued to battle the next 4 miles of the race to finish in a time of 28.04 minutes. Sam Britt raced into the number 2 spot for the Devils and finished in 29:35, the next KC harrier was Alex Detmer in 29:52. Finishing right behind Detmer was freshman Caleb Klein in 29:56. The Blue Devils were able to place 4 runners under the 30 minute mark. Sophomore Andrew Stevenson wearing the KC Blue Devil singlet for the last time cross the line in 30:31. Kolton Shoemaker was behind him in 30:36. Ryan Gerdes finished under 31 minutes in a time of 30:51. The Blue Devils point total placed them in 21st place out of 30 full teams. So with over 1700 miles of bus travel, 3 motels and several meals, the 2021 Blue Devils Cross Country season came to the finale, the end, the finish. The season willl go down as one of the best in the program. "These young men put the miles in, did the work, and battled all season. To my upper classmen, a big thank you!
